筑波大学は、国際的な学術交流によって、学術研究水準の向上を図り、国際的視野を持つ人材の養成を目指しています。この目的達成のため、外国の大学及び国際連合大学高等研究所との交流協定を結び、学生や教員の海外派遣、単位互換制度、外国人教師の受け入れなどを行っています。また、外国人留学生の受け入れも積極的に進めています。フロンティア医科学専攻でも大学全体の方針に沿って、国際交流を積極的に推進しています。フロンティア医科学専攻の所属する医学部門では、英国のエディンバラ大学、フランスのボルドー第二大学、台湾の国立台湾大学、ベトナムのベトナム国家大学ホーチミン校と教育研究交流をとくにすすめています。
The University of Tsukuba aims to cultivate human resources with a global view by promoting international exchange to improve academic standards. In order to accomplish this goal, we have established agreements with overseas universities and the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies and offer a variety of activities such as delegating students and faculties abroad, a credit transfer system and accepting faculties from abroad. We also further provide a support to the study for overseas students. The international exchange programs are increasing in the Master’s Program of Medical Sciences. In the Medical Branch including the Master’s
Program of Medical Sciences, education and research exchanges are enhanced ties with University of Edinburgh in England, University of Bordeaux (Bordeaux 2) in France, National Taiwan University in Taiwan and Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, in Vietnam.

■ G30 プログラム
本学は、平成21 年度文部科学省国際化拠点整備事業（グローバル30: G30）に採択されました。本事業は、大学の国際化を推進するため、英語の授業のみで学位が取れる学部レベル、大学院レベルの英語コースの増設や、優れた留学生の獲得と優秀な外国人教員の採用等により、大学の国際競争力の強化、留学生等に魅力的な水準の教育等の提供、また留学生と切磋琢磨する環境の中で国際的に活躍できる高度な人材の育成を図ることを目指しています。フロンティア医科学専攻でも、G30 に対応したコース、Master’s Program in Medical Science を開設しています。
The University of Tsukuba has been selected as one of“ Global 30 Project for Establishing Core Universities for Internationalization” in 2009 by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). This project aims to promote internationalization of Japanese universities and we have action plans for students to 1) receive academic degrees by taking classes conducted in English; to 2) offer new programs (courses) of English at the graduate level; 3) accept first-class students and employ faculty members from abroad. We offer one of the G30 courses, Master’s Program in Medical Sciences, in the Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences.
■国際研究交流会
2010年11 月1 日、つくば国際会議場にて、Leading Graduate Schools International Conferenceが開催されました。本会議は大学間研究交流と大学院学生の交流を目的として、医学部門が交流する協定校４大学（ボルドー第二大学、国立台湾大学、エディバラ大学、ベトナム国家大学ホーチミン校）より最先端の研究に携わっている研究者を招聘して行われました。
当日は、174 名の教員および学生が参加し、４ つのテーマ（Neuroscience, Development and Cell Biology, Gene Regulation, Clinical Research）を中心に活発な議論が交わされました。また、各大学の大学院生28人によるポスター発表も行われ、学生同士の医学研究交流がさらに深まりました。
夕方より、国際交流会を開催し、各大学紹介が行われ大学間共同研究と交換留学に発展する絶好の機会を提供することができました。
The Leading Graduate Schools International Conference was held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center‚ on November 1‚ 2010. With the aim of international academic exchange between universities and graduate students, we invited researchers who work on leading-edge medical research from the University Victor Segalen Bordeaux 2‚ National Taiwan University‚ the University of Edinburgh‚ and Vietnam National University. Our university has exchange agreements with these universities. After the conference‚ 174 students and faculty members discussed and exchanged opinions about neuroscience‚ development and cell biology‚ gene regulation‚ and clinical research. A poster session was also held during the conference with 28 graduate students from the participating universities making poster presentations. This session helped participating students to deepen exchanges about medical science. Participating universities were introduced at an exchange session that was held after the conference. This session served as a good opportunity for the participants to talk about joint research and exchange programs.

■ NTU-Tsukuba Long Distance Course
平成22 年度より、インターネット回線を使った筑波大学と国立台湾大学の相互交信型の講義を行っています。この講義の目的は、国際的な研究交流の活性化、サイエンス分野でのコミュニケーション能力の育成、生命科学の有効利用法の探索で、コースは、国立台湾大学および筑波大学教員による講義、大学院生による論文発表と討論、応用に向けての討論からなっています。
Since 2010, National Taiwan University and University of Tsukuba have organized an online lecture with the mutual communication. The aims of these lectures are to promote the international academic and research exchanges, to improve students’ scientific communication skills and explore the effective utilization of life science. This course is constructed of lectures by the faculty members of both National Taiwan University and University of Tsukuba, presentation and discussion by the graduate students and discussions about possible applications.

■海外の大学への短期派遣プログラム
平成22 年度はフロンティア医科学専攻の大学院生３名が国立台湾大学に２週間派遣され、研究室での実習とCBT サマーコースの講義に参加しました。
In 2010, three graduate students of Master’s Program in Medical Sciences went to National Taiwan University for two weeks for a short-term visiting program and participated in the practices in the laboratories and CBT Summer Course lectures.

この海外研修において、海外の研究者やたくさんの学生と幅広い議論をすることができ、視野が広がり非常に有意義であった。特にコミュニケーションについて得るものが大きかった。将来的に研究者としてやっていくためには海外の研究者との交流が不可欠であり、英語でのコミュニケーション能力は必須であると思われる。ここでのコミュニケーション能力として、研修以前は英語力を第一に考えていたが、積極的に台湾大学の学生との会話するよう常に心がけることを通じて、何事にも積極的に取り組む姿勢や何かを伝えようとすることといったコミュニケーション能力の重要さを再認識させられた。

当初の自分の目標である二点①英語を通じたコミュニケーション能力の向上、②自らの研究に繋げられるような技術、論理といったきっかけを発見することに関してはどちらも達成したのではないかと感じています。国立台湾大学の学生たちは、本当に親切に私たちの面倒を見てくれました。毎日の食事の面倒から、観光案内までしてくれ、あまりに親切なので「疲れないか」と聞いたところ、「重要なのはあなたたち（私たち日本人留学生）がenjoy しているかどうか」と快く言ってくれたことが非常に印象的でした。私たちの関係は、二週間という短い期間ではありましたが、一回限りのものではなく、間違いなく未来に繋がる関係を築けたと確信しています。

日本での自分の専攻分野とは異なる分野を学ぶことで、ヒト、植物、ヒト以外の動物と対象は異なっても、サイエンスの基本となる部分は同じであるということを学び、私自身の考え方は柔軟性に欠けていることを痛感し、非常に勉強になりました。
