専攻概要 Master's Program in Medical Sciences

近年における科学技術の進歩の中で、医学・医療は目覚しい進歩、発展を遂げつつあります。これとともに医学・医療を支える関連領域は拡大し、多様化し、かつ深化の度合を深めつつあり、巨大な学際領域が形成されてきています。このような背景から関連領域をも含めた医科学の基本を身につけた人材の養成が広く求められています。
本専攻の前身である医科学研究科は、医学部（医学専門学群）以外の多様な卒前専攻領域をもつ学生に対して、高度の医科学の学識およびその応用能力を習得してもらうことを目的として、わが国で初めての医科学研究科として設置され、我国の医科学教育を先導してきました。フロンティア医科学専攻では、医科学研究科の伝統を継承するとともに、新しい試みを加え、医科学の包括的基盤教育とともに、社会的ニーズに対応した実践的で幅広い医科学関連領域の教育・研究を行い、修了生が多様な進路に進んで、研究者・教育者あるいは高度専門職業人として、安心で健康な社会の実現と維持のために活躍する人材となるように育成することを目的としています。具体的には、
* 大学などの研究・教育機関において医科学の基礎的研究の推進に貢献し得る人材、
* 医療に関係する企業等において研究開発や医療関連業務に携わる人材、
* 国際保健協力、医療行政、予防医学、労働衛生、医療施設管理、福祉などの分野において活躍できる人材、
* 医療の安全や健康増進に資するための新分野を開拓できる人材、
の育成を目指しています。このために、140名以上の医学系教員を中心として、臨床医学、基礎医学、社会医学に跨がる包括的な医科学教育が行われるとともに、研究学園都市つくばの地の利を活かし、学外で就業体験を行うカリキュラムも準備され、学生の興味と希望する進路に応じて柔軟なカリキュラムの選択ができるように、多彩な科目が編成されています。
Medical sciences and medical care, with their related fi elds of science and technology, have made remarkable progress lately. The related areas founding the basis of medicine are rapidly growing, expanding and diverging. Thus, integration of medicine-related sciences and technologies is strongly required. It now is an important social need to cultivate professionals who are well educated in the medicine-oriented sciences.
Our master's degree program in medical sciences was established to provide opportunities for those students who had received other undergraduate education than medicine to obtain knowledge of medicine and medical sciences, and to develop the ability of its application. Graduates of this program are expected to contribute to the progress of research in the fi elds of basic medical sciences, clinical medicine, community medicine and nursing science. It is also the aim of this program to train professionals who can serve as experts in various medicine-related fi elds, such as preventive medicine, occupational medicine, nursing, medical welfare, medical engineering and medical administration, etc..
