Introduction

Laboratory Animal Resource Center
Director@ Fumihiro Sugiyama, ph D.

@In the fields of medicine and life sciences, many genetically-modified mice and disease-model animals are created and utilized for elucidation of life mechanism and development of cutting-edge medical technology. After reorganization for Experimental Animal Center in 2001, Laboratory Animal Resource Center has started as a center for generating genetically-modified mice and has supported many research activities in and out of school.  Since 2003, we have made further progress on contract production business of genetically-modified mice and impelled facility improvements with PFI (Private Finance Initiative) method in order to correspond to project styled research. Exceeding total area of 9000m2, laboratory Animal Resource Center is one of the largest class animal experimentation facilities in Japan with newly built Building A (Mutant Mouse Research Wing) in 2006 and total renovation of Building B (Laboratory Animal Research Wing) in 2007.

@We, as well as University of Tsukuba, will strive to contribute to the progress of life science research and to implement appropriate animal experimentation.
