Levels for credit needed
Students attend seminars of their choice and submit three reports during the year (each report must be based on at least three papers) The submitted papers are then evaluated and graded by academic committee members as well as the research supervisor, on the basis of the following criteria: the degree of understanding of the seminar; method of posing questions; method of choosing reference literature and understanding of its contents; and ability to compose scientific articles and reports.
Grading Phylosophy
A passing grade (C or above) is awarded on the basis of whether a student attended seminars in the fields other than his/her expertise, selected appropriate research papers in the relevant field, and understood the paper. If a student is considered to have appropriately interpreted the significance of the seminar and the papers in the research field, a grade of B or above will be awarded. In addition to the qualifications for grade B and C, a student will be awarded grade A if he/she is capable of proposing a future research question, and A+ if the student demonstrates an exceptional ability in scientific writing (top 10%).
