授業概要
Course overview
Class time will be used for:
1 Understanding the concept and research method of health service research for empirical evaluation of the quality of each service in the health care and welfare field through practice.
2 Discussions with experts in medical care and welfare policies and health service research in Japan and overseas for contribution to policies and practice sites.
3 Understanding living of elderly each country in terms of 1) law and politics, 2) geriatric medicine, public health, nursing, 3) social welfare, 4) economics, and 5) anthropology.
Class time will be used for:
1 Reading English textbooks for health service research
2 Developing basic skills of health service research with an international perspective.
Class time will be used for:
1 Reading the English papers of health service research from a critical point of view
2 Developing the ability in reading and writing papers effectively through discussions on the contents and quality of research.

Health measurement and its application, The principles of cost-effectiveness analysis and their application, Health services quality and its accreditation, Introduction of hospital management, Enhancing capacity and quality of outpatient mental health services, Medical entrepreneur in aging society: challenges on social capital development, Health Services Research for supporting caregivers, Clinical medicine and HSR, etc.

Purpose, background, concept, theory, field, target, data collection method, epidemiological method, economic method, statistical method of health service research, etc.
Ethics in research and education of health service research
Purpose, method, and viewpoint of study critique for overseas papers
Study critique of overseas papers on the following themes: hospital quality, acute care quality, chronic care quality, community care quality, dental care quality, institutional care quality, elderly care, family caregiver, rehabilitation , Terminal care, regional differences in health services, ecological studies, etc.

成績評価方法
Grading Criteria
Students are evaluated by the achievement of the objectives listed in the SBO.
- Good achieved under supervision in the SBOs 1 and 2:  Pass (C).
- Good achieved under supervision in the SBOs 1 - 3, and actively conducted SBO 4:  Pass (B).
SBOs 1 - 3 will be evaluated based on a brief report in terms of presentation and dicsussion.
- Excellent achievement in SBOs 1-4, and good achievement in SBOs 5-7: (A)
- Outstanding achievement with enough evidence in all SBOs : Pass (A+)
Students are evaluated by the achievement of the objectives listed in the SBO.
- Good achieved  in the SBOs 1 and 2:  Pass (C).
- Good achieved in the SBOs 1 - 2, and actively conducted SBO 3:  Pass (B).
Based on written summary of papers (A4 1 page, twice a month).  good achievement including SBO 4 is confirmed,: Pass (A).
- Outstanding achievement with enough evidence in all SBOs : Pass (A+)
Skills for conducting stable and reliable study critique (50%)
Verbal assessment of critique, comprehension of study critique, and ability to perform the next study critique (50%)
A+: Superior (more than 90: top 10%)
A: Excellent (80-89: upper 20%)
B: Good (70-79)
C: Average (60-69)
D: Failure (less than 60)
