Admission Policy

Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences

1. Our Mission

We encourage students to contribute to society with leading biomedical researchers and educators who have a spirit of creativity and cooperation by making full use of their knowledge of biomedical sciences, skills, and communication ability through scientific discussions and spirit of respect.

2. Educational Goals

We provide systematic medical graduate school education unifying with the Clinical Sciences and integrate various programs of Musha-shugyo that cover wide range of medical subjects and cultivate students’ independence, communication ability and problem-solving capability. The concept of total research activities in the program is grasped through “Lecture in Life System and Medicine”, “Special Seminar in Medical Sciences”, “Special Studies on Medical Sciences” and each major course explore advanced aspects of specialized issues. “International Practical Medical Science” is to nurture a sense of internationality to be actively involved in the world level. “Training in Medical Science Education” provides primary knowledge and skills required to become university faculty.

3. Prospective Students

We are seeking the students who are strong-minded to contribute to future of humanity by developing medical researches with the fundamentals of human bioscience essence; and those who perceive basic concepts of their major that emphasize the independency, creativity and internationality and also who are able to pursue learning experience.

4. Selection Policy

[Basic Principle]
We conduct both written English proficiency examination and oral examinations for the major field. The oral examination is based on his own research plan that an applicant submits prior to the examination so that the applicants are diverse in their backgrounds. These examinations are conducted both in English and in Japanese.

For the enrollment in April of coming year, two examinations including the one for people with work experience are regularly conducted twice a year in August and in February. Another examination for the international courses takes place accordingly at partner universities abroad

Doctoral Program in Clinical Sciences

1. Our Mission

We engage in cultivating researchers of clinical medicine who are able to contribute to the development of clinical sciences.

2. Educational Goals

With the integrated education between the Life System Medical Sciences and the Clinical Sciences, we provide a medical graduate school education for specialists with the initiative as physicians or researchers/educators who have achieved high-level medical technology. The “International Practical Medical Science” is targeting to acquire internationality to be involved on the world standards.

3. Prospective Students

We select qualified applicants from physicians, dentists and clinical pharmacists who have strong enthusiasm in establishing themselves as scientists and nurture creative medical science researchers. We also welcome students who have earned a master’s degree and have eagerness to contribute to the development of clinical sciences as a candidate to be trained as medical researchers.

Doctoral Program in Nursing Sciences

1. Academic goals

The academic goal of the Doctoral Program in Nursing Sciences is to foster world-class leaders in the fields of clinical practice, management, education, research and administration who not only possess specialized knowledge and skills in nursing, but also have the ability to verifying nursing practice using a highly studious mind, and also have the ability to develop new skills in nursing and new methods of education and research based not only on specialized area in nursing, but also on interdisciplinary and scientific perspectives.

2. Applicants expected

Applicants expected are: students who seek to obtain skills for systemizing methods of education and research, which are the basis of creation of new knowledge and technical development for the next generation, by utilizing the abilities of nursing practice and research, which was developed in the Master program; as well as students who aim at becoming educators, researchers, nurses and managers in skilled clinical nursing as a bridge between practice and theory.

3. Basic policy for entrance examinations

Applicants' qualities and abilities to study in the Doctorial Program in Nursing Sciences will be evaluated based on examinations as well as submitted documents, written and oral tests of knowledge on English and nursing sciences.

4. Schedule of entrance examinations

Students entering the Doctor's program in April in the next academic year are required to take the entrance tests in August.

Master’s Program in Medical Sciences

1. Educational purpose

More than 200 teaching faculty members from clinical medicine, basic medical sciences, community medicine, and related fields participate in comprehensive basic medical science education. The aims of Master’s Program in Medical Sciences are to promote education and research in a wide area of comprehensive basic medical science that is practical and meets social needs, so that the graduates can advance in various careers and become professionals actively participating in the maintenance of a safe and healthy society as researchers, educators or highly specialized professionals in industry.

2. Students who should apply

We seek students who have high learning ability and who are sincere and rich in public morality without concern about their expertise before the admission.

3. General rules of student admission selection

Achievement examinations and character evaluations are conducted through written examinations (language and major subjects) and oral examinations. By allowing special applications on the basis of English entrance examinations for working members of society, we welcome international students and ordinary citizens.

4. Administration system of student admission selection

Student admission selection is conducted in August for admission in the following April. A selection system for September admission is currently under consideration.

Master's Program in Nursing Sciences

1. Academic goals

The academic goals of the Master's program in nursing sciences are to 1) foster researchers who can scientifically analyze nursing practice through interdisciplinary and international perspectives, and who possess a diligent attitude as researchers, to 2) prepare students to utilize highly specialized knowledge and skills in nursing in a practical fashion, and to 3) prepare students to utilize the basic skills required for educators who support education in the nursing sciences.

2. Applicants expected

An applicant expected is one who strives to become a nursing professional who possesses highly specialized knowledge and skills in nursing, which are practical and supported by scientific evidence; and who strives to become an educator/researcher who takes a leader role in nursing practice.

3. Basic policy for entrance examinations

Academic performance and personality will be evaluated based on written and oral (interview-style) tests in the field of your specialty (nursing) and English. Special entrance examinations will be used to select adult students (e.g., those who have a job).

4. Schedule of entrance examinations

Students entering the Master's program in April in the next academic year are required to take the entrance tests in August.

International Joint Degree Master’s Program in Agro-Biomedical Science in Food and Health

1. Educational Goals

In response to the global challenges that human beings face of maintaining and improving health and securing a safe supply of food, we develop high-level international experts who, based on the principle that a balanced diet leads to a healthy body, understand the impact of food on health from an academic perspective and who can bridge the gap between R&D and global societal needs.

2. Prospective Students

This program seeks students that, with a background in medical or agro-biological resources science and a cooperative spirit, are strongly determined to innovate and contribute to the future of society and mankind by overcoming national and academic boundaries to assertively tackle global-scale issues related to the fields of health and food.

3. Basic Policy for Entrance Examinations

Each university comprising the Joint Degree Program conducts the first selection. Then, three universities jointly review selected applications and make the final decisions.
