Brief Introduction to University of Tsukuba College of Nursing and Medical Technology (CNMT)

• CNMT was founded in October, 2002, by a constructive reform of Univerisity of Tsukuba College of Medical Technology and Nursing with 3 years' educational programs, which was founded in 1978.
• We welcomed 70 and 37 fresh students of Nursing and Medical Technology course, respectively, in April, 2003.
• We will provide 4-year-educational programs to students of both Nursing and Medical Technology Course.
• The college will grant Bachelor of Nursing Science and Bachelor of Medical Technology, respectively, dependently upon their pursuing courses.
• Graduation also qualifies the students to take National Examination for Nurse, Health Nurse, Midwife, Nursing Teacher, or Medical Technologist dependently upon the pursuing course.
• We are now planing to establish Master's and Doctoral programs of graduate school in University of Tsukuba for students graduated from our college.
• We will accept a few number of foreign students at their own expense every year.

Nursing Course

• The college offers a bachelor of nursing program completed generally in four years.  Students are required to complete a minimum of 125 credit hours.  After completing the course, you are eligible to take the national licensure examinations for registered nurse and public health nurse.  You can also take designated elective subjects for the licensure for midwife (138 credit hours in total) or school nurse (145 credit hours in total). 
• Registered nurses with associate degree or diploma in nursing can join in the program at the third grade (junior) as transfer students.  Transfer credit is granted individually, based on total credit hours for the course, and the course description of the previous program.
• You would expect to see nurses in hospitals or clinics, but you will also know they work in schools, rehabilitation centers, or in the workplace.  A career in nursing offers limitless opportunities.  Regardless of where you work, or what area you specialize in, you'll be a part of the important, caring profession. If there's a place you'd like to work, nursing career can take you there!

Medical Technology Course

• What is Medical Technology? : "Medical Technology" is a science which has two aims: i) Participation to the team health service by learning physiological examinations (ECG and EEG et al.) and technology of pathological, chemical, and biochemical examinations of blood, urine, and tissues; ii) Development of novel fields of medical technology which support clinical and basic medical studies required for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases or disorders. We are going to be professional health scientists acting in a various aspects of life sciences thus contributing to our society.

• What is our educational goal? :
  1. To establish the ability to act according to the fundamental human rights, fair judgements, and noble ethics; To bring up rich humanity.
  2. In addition to the learning of the basic techniques required for performance of clinical examinations and medical technology, we will study the highly qualified professional intelligence and examination technology foreseeing the futural development of the science.
  3. To establish the creative power and scholarship which are required for Research and Development.
  4. To understand the health services realizing best human QOL.
  5. To obtain the habit to learn for ourselves throughout our lives.
  6. To establish the attitude to pursue Internationality.
