Professor Sakata-Yanagimoto of TMRC and Department of Hematology at University of Tsukuba, received the 2022 Japan Cancer Association (JCA) Mauvernay Award within the Translational Research catergory. Professor Sakata-Yanagimoto was recognized for her exceptional research related to Translational research targeting intractable lymphomas. The Japanese Cancer Association and Debiopharm jointly established the JCA-Mauvernay Award to recognize cutting edge oncology research and to encourage Japanese researchers to make their work available to other parts of the world.

Dec 16, 2021 - Professor Satoshi Yamazaki of TMRC's Stem Cell Therapy Laboratory was selected for the "18th Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Award 2021" from JSPS. The award recognised his research work in "Development of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Ex Vivo Expansion".

Assistant Professor Ryo Fujita from the TMRC Regenerative Medicine Division received the Young Investigator's Excellence Award at the 6th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Muscle Sciences, in December, 2020. The award was given for his research presentation titled "Stem cell maintenance mechanism of skeletal muscle stem cells by selective protein translation mechanism".

Professor Takahashi was awarded the 2020 National Science and Technology Award on 7th April, 2020, by Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Science and Technology Promotion Division. The MEXT commendation aims at improving the motivation of those contributing to advanced science and technology by praising outstanding achievements, and to contribute to the improvement of science and technology standards.
The commendation was for contributions by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and University of Tsukuba team for development of the unique space mouse breeding system, which is being used in Japan's Kibo laboratory module aboard the International Space Station (ISS), for investigation of the biomedical effects of micro-gravity.
