Research Overview

Transcription plays a central role in gene expression, which affects various aspects of biological phenomena in normal or diseased states.

Our group is interested in the mechanisms of transcriptional regulation—how transcription factors, coactivators, general transcription factors and chromatin regulate transcription at the molecular level. We are particularly interested in chromatin remodeling and modifications as well as their functional consequences on transcription, a process that is intimately linked to epigenetics.

The transcription and chromatin field is an exciting and rapidly progressing area. We provide a competitive, yet enjoyable environment for graduate students who are passionate and committed to research in biomedical sciences.
