"In our laboratory, we try to investigate neural mechanisms of homeostasis with targeting cardiovascular and respiratory regulation by the central nervous system."

Cardiovascular Regulation
Cardiovascular regulation by the central nervous system plays crucial roles in homeostasis. Disorder of this system causes serious problems in a living body. Despite this, it has been remained that lots of unknown mechanisms in the cardiovascular center. In order to investigate these mechanisms, we are electrophysiologically approaching to mechanisms of cardiovascular regulation by the cardiovascular center using in vivo preparation and in situ preparation (arterially perfused preparation) of rodents. At present, we are especially focusing on stress-induced cardiovascular regulation, chemosensitive mechanisms of the cardiovascular center, and diseases which is caused by neural dysregulations of the cardiovascular functions.

Respiratory Regulation
Respiratory regulation by the central nervous system plays crucial roles in homeostasis. In our laboratory, we are electrophysiologically approaching to mechanisms of respiratory regulation by the cardiovascular center using in vivo preparation and in situ preparation (arterially perfused preparation) of rodents. At present, we are especially focusing on roles of hydrogen sulfide on the respiratory generation, the relationship between the cardiovascular and the respiratory centers (cardiorespiratory coupling) and diseases which is induced by neural dysregulations of the respiratory system.
