Deciphering the spatiotemporal regulation of RNA to uncover fundamental principles of gene expression

Our laboratory is a new group launched in September 2025 (we’re still in the process of setting up!).

We focus on RNA, a central molecule in the central dogma, and aim to understand diverse mechanisms that regulate gene expression. For example, when, where, and how does translation—the process of synthesizing proteins from mRNA—take place? Recent studies have shown that mRNAs are transported to various subcellular locations and are translated locally at their destinations. In addition, many membraneless organelles formed by RNAs and proteins have been discovered, and their functional links to translation are appreciated.

Would you like to join us for deciphering how reactions in a corner of the cell connect to diverse biological phenomena and diseases, harnessing genome-wide analyses with next-generation sequencing?

We are recruiting lab members and graduate students.
