Molecular Mechanisms of Decidual Formation and Function in Early Pregnancy
要旨 Abstract:
Embryo implantation is a critical step in establishing pregnancy, during which the maternal endometrium undergoes
extensive transformation to form a specialized tissue known as the decidua. This process, termed decidualization, is
essential for supporting embryonic development and successful pregnancy. However, the molecular mechanisms that
initiate decidualization and the physiological functions of the resulting decidual tissue remain incompletely
understood.
Our research has focused on elucidating how bioactive lipid signaling regulates decidual formation and how the decidua
contributes to pregnancy maintenance. We have demonstrated that lysophosphatidic acid
(LPA) signaling and prostaglandin production play critical roles in coordinating embryo implantation and
decidualization. More recently, we have revealed that TAZ-mediated extracellular matrix remodeling is essential for
establishing a functional decidual environment that supports trophoblast invasion and embryonic development.
In this seminar, I will present our findings on the molecular mechanisms underlying decidual formation and its
physiological significance in early pregnancy.
