What is Integrated Study?
「Definition」
Integrated study, here, satisfies the following criteria.
1. Integrated study focuses on the issues which cannot be solved by methodologies
in a certain existing discipline (i.e., issues related to multiple disciplines,
not related to existing disciplines, etc.).
2. Integrated study flexibly approaches the issues by utilizing methodologies
in existing disciplines or creating new methodologies.
3. Integrated study provides solution or value to issues.
「Integrated Study includes Trans-disciplinary concept and its beyond」
The above definition of Integrated Study looks similar to the activities
in multi-, cross-, inter-, and trans- disciplinary studies. It is true.
Integrated study additionally involves the attitude to approach issues
free from methodologies and criteria in existing disciplines, and aims
to provide solution or value by creating new methodologies. We expect such
attitude will further create novel disciplines. In this sense, Integrated
study is the study beyond trans-disciplinary one.
「Starting from Informatization of Health issues」
In our lab, we target health issues by Integrated Study approach. We start
the study from issue mining with appropriate informatization to solve the
issues, as well as utilizing the existing information resources.

Activities
「Overall」
Our lab focuses on Integrated Study on Health Information.
We aim to provide solution and value to health issues in the society by
creating prototype concepts and/or products with Integrated Study approach.
My personal research motivation under this concept is, based on my career
as life and medical scientist, "Comprehending science, and Go beyond science", more specifically, "Unraveling the activities of researchers and thier communities, Understanding
the relationship between researchers and public society, Implementing science
communication, Re-considering the scientific methodology".
(Our members do not need to have the same motivation, of course.)
The following examples are the activites which our lab members and I are
focusing on.
If you have your own interest and passion, we welcome your new projects.
I expect this lab is an open platform to challege issues.
「Bridge between scientific and east-Asian methodologies」
We try to build the bridge between scientific methodologies and east-Asian
specific methodologies by applying 'Form/Model' used in Japanese tranditional
martial arts, Chinese medicine, etc. (research products).
「Utilization of big data」
We utilize bid data to investigate the activities in researchers, public
society, etc. (resaerch products).
Topic example of students; Discourse analysis of Japanese newspapers for the food safety and trading
issues
「Science communication」
We focus on nutrition education to link scientific knowledge and public
habitat(research products).
Topic example of students; Creating Human Body Journey Map of Nutrition Molecules.
「Approach to business」
We are developing healthy recipe with scientific evidence. This recipe
should contribute to solve the health issue as we as to make feasible business
(research products).
Topic example of students; Creating Sunburn Recovery Drink and Starting Business.
「Evidence-based science to life and health」
We keep the activity to perfom experiment-based life science(research products).
Topic example of students; The effect of Cordyceps to prevents colitis through regulating gut flora.
「Solution from academic diplomat」
The organizer of our lab is also working as acadmic diplomat for the university.
Through this activity, we can establish new connection beyond borders of
countries, disciplines, working fields, etc. An example is the establishment
of GIP-TRIAD program, wihch is now appropriate platform to challenge Integrated Study on Health
Information (research products).
