Specialized Basic Subjects Applied Nursing Science 1 3 FallAB Based on the philosophy behind nursing theory, students will deepen their understanding of development and validation of nursing theories, analysis and evaluation methods, concept development and analysis methods, and methods for using theory in research and building theory from research through assignments and discussions, and scientifically explore the issues for the future development of nursing science.
Application of Statistics in Nursing Research 1 2 All Grounded in a basic understanding on statistics, students will learn through critiquing academic papers in their research fields to understand advanced research in nursing science, especially multivariate analysis methods used in quantitative research. The course consists of 20 lectures, and the first 10 of them will be held jointly with "Health Statistics" Course from the Master's Program. The first 10 lectures will be on basic statistics where students will learn the basics of inferential statistics, and the second half of the course will be on how to conduct quantitative research, and students will give presentations introducing their research fields, recent developments, and critique of representative quantitative research papers in the field and examine the understanding of statistical methodology and its development in research.
Research Methodology for Nursing 1 2 FallAB Research methodology to plan, conduct, and evaluate practical research in nursing science as an independent researcher will be taught through lectures and discussions.
Nursing Education 1 2 FallABC Students will learn about professor and student theories necessary for nursing education and educational methods in nursing education through lectures, discussions, and seminars. Specifically, lectures will be given on teaching and learning theories such as characteristics and changes in nursing education programs, curriculum development, methods of designing lessons based on understanding of views of education, teaching materials, and learners, intrinsic motivation theory, problem-solving-learning theory, adult learning theory, and achievement goal theory. In addition, students will prepare a practice lesson plan and give a presentation and discussion.
Specialized Subjects Advanced Topic in Nursing Science 1・2 2 FallABC This course will teach students necessary knowledge and actual research techniques to conduct an original and creative research project from the prospective of various specialized fields of nursing science for the future development of nursing science.
Advanced Seminar in Research Ethics 1 1 FallABC Students will learn about basic knowledge regarding research ethics and ethical considerations to proceed with research, which are necessary as a nursing researcher through specific cases, and acquire practical skills through e-learning materials (CITI-Japan) and discussion.
Advanced Seminar in Nursing ScienceI 1 2 FallABC Students will examine domestic and international papers on the research topics they have chosen, plan and present research objectives and methods systematically and logically, and explore the techniques of thesis writing by discussing matters constructively in order to cultivate leadership skills for the development of nursing science and the ability to conduct research activities and write papers independently.
Advanced Seminar in Nursing ScienceII 2 1 FallABC Students will explore their ability to conduct research by giving a presentation on the originality and novelty of their research topic with evidence in order to cultivate leadership skills for the development of nursing science and the ability to conduct research activities and write papers independently through the seminar. The goal is to be able to set their own research topic, to construct a research conceptual framework, to clarify and improve issues in conducting research according to the research plan that they have prepared, and to write highly creative papers based on scientific evidence. The course plan consists of two parts: one for each graduate students to give a presentation on the status of the research being conducted according to their research plan and identify issues and areas for improvement in their research through discussion with other graduate students and professors, and the other for presentation and discussion of their research that has been revised based on the improvement methods for the issues pointed out in the discussion (adding the second time onwards as needed depending on the situation).
Advanced Research in Nursing Science 3 9 All This course is offered in the third year in a seminar format by a research advisor. Graduate students will be given final guidance to conduct independent research activities on specific research topics related to nursing science based on the results of the review of their research plan and complete a doctoral thesis with high creativity and originality based on scientific evidence.
Free subjects Application of Seminar in Global Health Nursing Research 1 - 3 1 All Students will give research presentations at an international academic conference and gain an understanding of nursing research at an international level through participation in the conference, and they will apply this knowledge to their own research activities.
Application of Seminar in Global Health Nursing Practice 1 - 3 1 All Students will participate in an overseas training program of five days or more at an overseas nursing-related institution and deepen their understanding of nursing practice and issues from a global perspective.
